Performance-driven Business Coaching
Design-led businesses are complex to run.
Between clients, teams, operations, and growth opportunities, many firm owners find themselves reacting to what’s urgent rather than leading with clarity.
Our coaching creates a consistent space to step out of the noise, think strategically about the business, and move forward with confidence.
We work alongside owners of design-led firms across the country to help them make clearer decisions, prioritize what matters most, and maintain momentum as the business evolves.
Our Approach
Our work follows a proprietary framework: Diagnose → Design → Do™. This framework ensures we’re always working on the right problems in the right order.
Not just discussing ideas — but turning decisions into measurable progress.
The Three Foundations of Our Work Using our Proprietary Framework of Diagnose, Design, Do™
01
Diagnose
We create space for you to step out of the noise, name what’s actually happening in your business, and gain clarity around the decisions in front of you.
02
Design
Design-led businesses are full of competing ideas, external pressure, and internal “shoulds.” We help you cut through that complexity so you know:
what matters now
what can wait
what doesn’t belong on your plate
03
Do
Clarity only works if it’s acted on. We provide steady accountability so decisions turn into progress and priorities don’t quietly fall away between conversations.
What the Work Looks Like
ongoing strategic conversations
real-time problem solving as challenges arise
leadership and decision support
clear next steps after every session
accountability between sessions
You’re never left holding your decisions alone.
What to Expect From Every Session
Every session is designed to leave you with:
relief
clarity
direction
momentum
If you don’t leave clearer than when you arrived, we haven’t done our job.
“Working with 19th & Co. each month is incredibly grounding. Every conversation brings clarity, thoughtful direction, and accountability that keeps me focused on what truly matters. They listen closely, cut through the noise, and help me make confident decisions without feeling overwhelmed.”

Frequently Asked Questions
-
A business coach exclusively for design-led businesses works on the business behind the design work — pricing, contracts, staffing, and pipeline — not on the design itself. In practice it's a standing working session where you bring the real decision in front of you: what to charge, who to hire, whether to take the project. You leave having made it.
-
Engagements at 19th & Co. start at $1,200 per month, billed month to month. That covers ongoing strategic coaching — regular sessions plus the momentum between them. For most firms, one new business development strategy or one avoided bad hire covers the cost. The honest test runs both ways: whether you can carry the fee comfortably, and what standing still is already costing you.
-
Founder-led design firms, typically one to fifteen team members — 1099 or W2. Architects, interior designers, and design-led businesses across the built environment. It's built for owners making real decisions: what to pay a team member, how to price a large renovation, when to stop taking work that doesn't fit.
-
Architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, lighting design, and design-adjacent businesses like showrooms and independent brands across the built environment. Founder Christine Woodward is a trained architect and interior designer for over 15 years: an M.Arch, management study at Harvard, and an MBA candidate at Johns Hopkins, with experience at firms like Gensler spanning hospitality and ultra-high-net-worth residential. The underlying business problems are close to identical across all disciplines.
-
There's no program and no term — coaching is bespoke and billing is month to month. Some firms work with 19th & Co. for a couple of months to get through one specific pain point, a pricing rebuild or a first hire. Others have stayed for years, leaning on the team as they need it.
-
Thirty minutes, no pitch deck. You describe what's actually going on in the firm, all your pain points — the numbers, the people problems, the thing you've been avoiding. We tell you plainly whether coaching would help and whether we’re the right fit.
-
Yes. 19th & Co. works with firms across the US and Canada, and sessions are by video. Founder Christine Woodward is based in California, with coaches spread across the country. Nothing about the work depends on being in the room — the material is your numbers, your contracts, and your people, and all of that travels digitally.
-
19th & Co. has worked inside the design industry, not just advised it. The coaching team brings degrees from Columbia, UC Berkeley, Johns Hopkins and the New York School of Interior Design, and experience spanning management consultancies like BCG and Accenture, large design organizations like Gensler and Restoration Hardware, and work alongside AD100 designers. No time gets spent explaining what construction administration is, or why the fee model everyone uses quietly costs you money.
